A VIDEO BLOG POST...

with an embarrassing moment to boot!

The question I get asked the most, during conventions, involves cutting material for the Revolution.

Well, that and what Justin's phone number is.

But because of contractual obligations, I can only give answers about the Revolution. Answers for that other question you'll have to take up with the man himself!

Here is a video showing how I skirt the "no-it-won't-cut-chipboard" issue...ENJOY!

SUPPLIES:

Revolution Photo Corners

If you use this tip on any of your own projects - I'd love to see them. Send me an email with a picture of your finished project and we just might post it here on the blog! Seriously ladies, we really DO love hearing from you! It's what gets us thru the days!

Have a good one...

SIZE MATTERS...

in all kinds of situations.

Tall vs. Grande vs. Venti
Medium vs. Large vs. Sonic Size
Coach vs. Business vs. First

and of course, our Scrap-Mart favorite

Squeeze vs. Revolution vs. Cookie Cutter

And we were just talking about sizes the other day. Crafty Deb and I. Discussing how SIZE is a hard thing to show in pictures. When I say that such-and-such a die is a Revolution die, you know that it's bigger than a Squeeze die. But you may not realize exactly HOW BIG.

So we decided that a quarter is the key.

A quarter in the picture frame gives you a size reference. Let's you know just how big or just how small a particular die really is.

Because size does matter!

So here are a couple of the new dies - from the June release - assembled and made all cute.

And photographed with a reference quarter!

This is the Baby Bottle (which right now is out of stock - sorry!). Super cute! And HUGE - it would fill up a card front all by itself!

These are the trucks. I think it's called a front loader. Wouldn't this make a cute "keep on trucking" card, or a "feel free to dump on me anytime", or "just rollin' by to say HI!"...the ideas are endless! Tiny and cute - can't you see a whole line of them across a scrapbook page?

Not to be confused with THESE guys. The big tractor. The huge mixer. Crafty Deb actually cut her own "load" for the bucket - and it looks so cute filled that way. But wouldn't it also be cute filled with a load of flowers, or rhinestones, or smiley faces. You could have a LOT of fun with trucks of this size!

I hope that gives you some good size reference. Big or small. Which are your favorites? Personally, I like them ALL. Different sizes for different days. Or different projects. Or different ideas.

Just don't forget - here at Scrap-Mart SIZE does matter.

SINCE LOTS OF YOU ARE WAITING...

for your new-release dies to arrive...let's revisit some old favorites today!

You know - just to remind ourselves that what we have in our stash already still needs to be loved. And used. If you're looking for something to do today, I challenge you to dig into your die-stash and pull one out that you haven't used in a while. Cut it and use it. Come on - you know you want to. You can do it!

Crafty Deb sent me a couple of cards that use some dies she has in her stash. (And believe me when I say "she has herself a stash"!!) Some are QuicKutz, some are Bosskut. She loves mixing them together - and I admit, I often forget to do that. So for a creative jump start today - I offer you the following:

When Deb got herself the BK Daisy - she decided to think outside of the box and mix it up with some older QK dies -

she mixed the daisy/sunflower with the Rockstar font and the Birds dies (the only TRIPLEkutz in their line right now!) How easy! How cute!

Then - digging a little deeper into her stash -

she mixed the BK daisy with a QK Bumble Bee and a Ladybug. She used Lemonade and her Basic Phrases for the card greetings!

I just LOVE having stacks of cards like this around. Just basic greeting cards. And with those awesome Basic Phrase dies, you could leave the greeting off of cards like this, and cut them as needed right before mailing! LOVE IT!

So there are some oldies.

But I just can't resist teasing you all with a little bit of the newbies! Feast your die-lovin' eyes on this...

the brand-spankin' new QK Castle. Isn't it adorable?

What? Why is your brow furrowed? OH - the dragon. You're wondering about the dragon. Well, funny you should ask. That is again, one of Crafty Deb's creations! She told me as soon as she saw the new castle, that it just had to have a dragon next to it. So she went about creating one. Let me show you this...and it might give you an idea of where the pieces-parts came from...

and here is the list of "ingredients" for the dragon:

BK Bat (for wings and ears)
QK Campfire (for flames)
QK Tomato (for body)
QK Chili Pepper (for neck and tail)
QK Teddy Bear (for head and front legs)
QK Bear (for rear legs)
QK Goosebumps Circles (for body texture)

TA-DAAAAAA! Lots of pieces, I know, but totally worth the effort! And you may have other shapes in your stash that would work - so don't be afraid to look, and cut and play. And if you discover another shape-substitute, let me know. Otherwise, call the store and they can hook you up with what you're missing or needing!

Later this week, I think I'll pull a few of the entries from the April contest to post. I know that Essie had promised to share some of them. So I'll help make good on her promise!

The new dies are going fast - and the FREE CLUB DIES have been verrrry popular this week. So act fast. When the exclusives are gone - - - they're GONE!

to quote our friend - "behave yourselves"!

THE "BLOG BOOB" AWARD GOES TO...

Miss Essie.

And I'm personally going to hand it to her when she walks into the office.

I mean SHEESH! Sooooooo you have a new grand baby... you think you get out of all of your bloggin' duties just because of that?? Essie - we have needs! We want to hear about the new QK dies that got released yesterday, we want to hear a report from Buffalo and Arlington. We want contests. We want prizes. Come on woman - get on the ball!

(giggle)

Just kidding! CONGRATS on the Little Miss! Little Miss Eloise for those want-to-be-informed blog readers!

We are pretty sure that QK heard about Essie's big news - because have you SEEN their newest release??? The new line of baby things is just adorable! I love the Cookie Cutter shapes...I can feel some "Grandma Confetti" coming up. Let's say...covering a desk and filling up a certain ladies favorite coffee mug??? LOVE IT!

So for the meantime - I'll be covering the blog duties. So bear with me. Want to see something - leave a comment. Have an idea - leave a comment. Make something you're proud of - leave a comment. Wanna brag on your latest QK innovation - leave a comment. We can all pitch in and fill the Scrap-Mart blog with goodness while Essie is otherwise occupied!

Until then - I'm sitting at the Houston airport. I'm in the first hour of a FOUR HOUR LAYOVER here. But it's all good - because I"m on my way to Chantilly. And from what I've heard, Chantilly is ready and waiting for us to arrive. The Great American Scrapbook Convention starts on Friday and runs thru Saturday. Woo-hoo! From what I've heard, Justin is en route as well. However, he's not speaking to me right now. But that's okay, because I'm not speaking to him either. In fact, I hope he forgot his Crocs!

Shirley will be with us at the show too! So excited to hang with Shirley. We girls are going to have FUN...working and selling and schmoozing and babbling. So if you're in the area - even if you're not, but can get there - stop by and say HI. We've got the brand new Scenic Route "Appleton" line. It's stinkin' cute! We also just might have the new QK release. I'm crossing my fingers. The new Bosskut release will be lining our shelves as well...and they are some must-haves!

We're going to be busy - but that's good. Because busy is FUN.

I'm also teaching two QK classes this weekend. If you haven't registered yet YOU SHOULD. We are going to have a blast in class. Cute projects, awesome prizes, fun instructions...and ME! What more could you possibly ask for?

Okay - my potato skins just arrived. I promise I only eat this badly when I travel. Of course, I travel quite a bit. Hmmmm - you can draw your own conclusions from that!

As Essie would say - "behave yourselves"...

Susan
