I can't believe....

how fast time is flying! Not just the summer but the whole year! It's already time again for CHA! This time it's in Orlando, FL. I have heard many rumors as to what we can expect to see from our favorite manufacturers. Any ideas? I'm eagerly awaiting the debuts. In the mean time, Quickutz has another new release scheduled for tomorrow to satisfy our crafty senses until the BIG release at the end of the week.

But, before all that I have some projects to show you. First up is this cool, or should I say *HOT*, layout from Jenn.

Don't you just love her title?! Now, I'm going to turn it over to Jenn so she can tell you how she did it. Here I used the fire border download design
and Impact true type font. Here are the steps I used to create the element:
1. I typed "Chicago Fire" in a text box using Impact TTF in my desired
size. I cut it out in Red cardstock.
2. I selected my text and clicked on the Offset button to create a rounded
shadow for the letters in my desired width.
3. I opened up the fire border design (that I had purchased and downloaded
from the QK Sil online store earlier).
4. I sized the fire border to match the width of my shadowed text and moved
the two shapes so that they just overlapped.
5. Once I had the overlap to my liking, I clicked on the Weld button to
merge the whole shape together. I cut that out in Yellow cardstock.
6. Next I selected the whole shape I just cut in yellow and clicked on the
Offset feature to select a rounded shadow in my desired size. I cut that
shape out in Orange cardstock.
Once I had everything cut, I glued all of the pieces together and voila -
instant page element! Thanks Jenn for sharing! I can't wait to try this!

Our next project comes from Tammy. She used a sketch from Lindsey Krauss, design team member for Transparent Touches and Tags, as inspiration for this layout.

Tammy used a combination of the Relax Gift Set font, 4x4 Chicken Noodle font and Sticky Note (for the & and ?) to create her multi-part title. She also used Unity Stamps Beach Days and Sun Rays stamp set for her journal block. I love how she got creative with her title!

Have you seen Unity's Anniversary Kit? It's LOADED with great images! I used the Anniversary Kit to create this card.

I used the distressed words and the calendar from this kit. The "special day" is from the Make a Wish acrylic stamp set by Sassafrass Lass. I cut the circle with my Spellbinders Petite Circle Nestabilities and embossed it with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. The butterflies on this card were stamped from Unity's Bevy of Butterflies stamp set. This set will be released in August! I haven't decided which special day I will use this card for but when I do I'll circle the month and date to mark the occasion.

Is it just me....

or has this week flown by? I hope yours has been a good one! Before we jump into this week's sketch I have 2 layouts to show you inspired by last week's sketch. The first one is from Tammy.

She used pieces of Scrap-Mart's Exclusive Quickutz Flourish Border, the Banana Split font and a corner stamp from one of Unity's Kit of the Month.

And here's Shar's take on the sketch...

Shar used the Revolution die of the Revolution along with the Nutmeg font and the Revolution Contact Card. She also added a touch of Bead Border. I really like her color combo!

This week's sketch is another great Page Maps sketch.



Here's Jenn's layout...

The skulls were part of the Silhouette Pirate Flag download and she added the Revolution Cookie Cutter Label for her journaling!

And here's Tammy's take...

Tammy used Banana Split for her title and added some flowers and bling! Too cute.

Wait 'til you see....

what our friend, PJ, has sent me to share with you!!! Take a look at this layout...

Is this not the coolest layout?! PJ used her Copics to airbrush the background of this layout! She created masks out of cardstock to get the shapes she wanted. For the sun, she used her Slice and cut a circle from the Basic Shapes 1 Design Card. The waves were created using the Fiskars Wave Border Punch and the sky/water was made by simply tearing the cardstock. Here's a peek at the masks she made...

To create her title, she used a combination of 4x8 Chemistry and the String Bean border alpha. The silhouette of the surfer girl was cut from the Slice Sports Design Card. It was actually a surfer dude and she simply added a ponytail to make it a surfer girl! The airbrushed background really gives this layout lots of POP!

This great card is from Tammy...

She started by embossing the background with the Quickutz Flowers A2 Embossing Folder. Then she stamped Unity's Flowers from Neverland and mounted it over the embossed background with a touch of scallop on each side. The scallops were actually created by cutting the Bead Border from Quickstripz and cutting it in half. Tammy colored the flowers with Copic Spica Glitter Pens. This card has lots of subtle detail!

Here's a layout I created...

My son found a turtle in the yard and decided to make it his new best friend. He carried that turtle around ALL day! I finally asked him what the turtle's name was and he told me "my turtle's name is Uncle Rusty"! My daughter names ALL her baby dolls "Baby Riley" which is Uncle Rusty's daughter! LOL! For the title I used a combination of the Summer of Fun Chicken Soup 4x4 alpha and Honeybee. I added the 2x2 Turtle to the center of the cardstock sticker and hid my journaling under the photos. I cut a recipe card using my Slice and the Studio Essentials Design Card. The paper and cardstock sticker are from the Bungle Jungle collection by Sassafras Lass.

Ask and you shall receive!

Jenn had asked the powers that be at Quickutz if they could create an awareness ribbon digital download. Thankfully, they did just that! Check out the layout Jenn created with it...

Yep, Jenn's a runner! Did you know that? In addition to the awareness ribbon digital download Jenn used the Zelda Grand alphabet for her "cure". The great thing about this download is you could cut it in yellow for a military layout!

I don't know about you but sometimes I REALLY want to scrapbook but I don't have much time. Here's a 10 minute layout. Yes, you heard me, 10 minute layout!

The background paper is from the Just Chillin' collection by Making Memories. All I did was color in the "Pow" with my orange Copic marker. I found a coordinating piece of patterned paper for the longer strip and a solid piece to mount my photo on. I crumpled up a scrap to place at the bottom of the photo. This is good to do in place of ribbon on boy/masculine layouts. I cut my title from my Slice using the Just Chillin' Design card and added a metal signage piece from the collection. That's it! 10 minutes and I had a layout that both Cody and I are happy with! Love it!

Here's a super cute card from Tammy!

Tammy colored her image with Copic markers then placed him on a background she embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. This card would be great to give to welcome a new baby!

Before I go today I want to share a quick video with you from Terri at BossKut. She's going to show us how the Gazelle works with print and cut images.

Isn't that cool?! You could totally print and cut your images then color them with your Copics!

Do you ever see something and wonder...

"why didn't I think of that?" That's exactly what I thought when I saw this adorable layout Shar created based on last week's sketch.

I LOVE how she layered her title! And with both layers being the same color it creates such a soft shadow look. Shar used the Honeybee alphabet, the 3-d Revolution Butterfly and a touch of Scallop Border. Shar found the TTF equivalent to Honeybee and printed her journaling on cardstock. It's a sad story but a great layout!

Okay, are you ready to see this week's sketch? Here it is...

This sketch comes from the Page Maps July collection. It is an 8 1/2 x 11 layout but we've all stretched it to create 12x12 pages.

Jenn created this fun layout about their celebration of her hubby's birthday!

For the title, Jenn used the Happy Birthday and numbers from the Gazebo font. The "th" is from the Moonlight font. Jenn accented her layout with Spellbinders Large Pinking Circles. These are great for masculine projects!

Veronica used pearls to create her circle elements on her layout.

She used Yogurt to create her title which translates roughly to "Melker is gardening". Veronica flipped the sketch and put the title on the bottom.

And here's my take on the sketch.

I hand drew and cut out my circles then distressed the edges. All my embellishments were cut using my Slice machine. The "family" part of the title is from the new Words and Expressions design card, the font for "photographer" is from the Animal Crackers design card, and the arrow and camera are from the Travel USA design card. The patterned paper is from the Making Memories Just Chillin' line. To create the mat for my photos I used two of the same journal pages from the Making Memories journaling books and backed them together. I had lots of fun with this layout!

I have something really fun to share with you today!

I recently went back to work in an office environment and I've been trying to find ways to spruce up my office. I use lots of Post-it-Notes so I decided to create a holder for them.

I used my Nestabilities Labels 1 to cut the top and bottom of the holder from chipboard coasters. The image and sentiment are from Unity's Little Buggers set and the image was colored with Copic markers. After coloring the image I cut it out with my Spellbinders Petite Circles and mounted it onto a slightly larger Labels 3. I added a BossKut Daisy flower and stems and leaves from the Sizzix Flowers with Stems and Leaves border. The sides of the holder were created with some cardstock and my Scor-Pal. Here's a peek at the inside...
