I always emboss in my Sizzix Express machine - I get a nice deep emboss with the cuttlebug folders in there. A couple of other tricks I fine - use smooth cardstock, and apply your adhesive to the surface you are putting the embosses shape on b/c sometimes putting the adhesive onto the embossed shape flattens in out too.
